My 2014 Favourites

Hey Guys,
Its that time of year again, the time when I tell you my favourites of 2014.
I know this post is a bit late but I really wanted to be 100% happy with it.
I also have been sick the last few days I think I'm getting tonsillitis again
I hope you enjoy!

Starting with

Skincare

Facial wash: Neutrogen Pink Grapefruit face wash
This always wakes me up in the morning with its strong scent of grapefruit.
I really like it as its very gentle on my skin.

Moisturiser: Silcock Base ( I have it in a small travel bottle here)
This is the only moisturiser I have tried that actually helped my very dry skin. I have heard of people using this as a cleanser & even a face mask which I must try.

Face:

Face Primer: M.A.C.'s Prep & Prime
This primer makes my skin really soft & helps keep my make-up on for ages.
Defiantly would love a full size please.

Foundation: No.7 instance radiance
I have been using this foundation for a year & a half now.
I love how it has a radiant finish with medium coverage.

BB Cream: The Body Shop's BB cream
I love using this BB cream it looks & smells really nice.

Concealer: Collections Lasting Perfection Concealer in No.3
I have been using this concealer for at least 2 years. Excellent coverage & lasts hours on my skin.

Powder: Rimmel Stay Matte powder in 003 'Sandstorm
I have dry skin so I never look too shiny but this powder keeps my skin matte after applying foundation.

Face brush: Real Techniques Buffing Brush
I only started using this brush lately for foundation. I was so shocked at how much foundation I was wasting before. It buffs in foundation really well too.

Lips:

Lipstick: Revlon Black Cherry
I left this space blank for so long, Its been really hard to choose a favourite lipstick as I really love all of mine & this year was the year I bought 80% of my lipsticks. If you have been reading my blog for a while you'll know how much I love this berry coloured lipstick by Revlon.
It has to be my favourite.

Lip balm: Babylips in 'Mint Fresh'
This was my holy grail over the past winter months.
It kept my lips soft & non chapped.

Eyes:

Liquid eyeliner: L'oreal Super Liner in 'Intense Black'
I recently purchased a new one of these because my old one had dried out after a year of using it. It stays in place all night & I find it really easy to use ( as I'm not very good at applying liquid eyeliner).
I have recommended it to my sister & friends & now they own it too.

Mascara: Rimmel Scandaleyes mascara in 'Intense Black'
I got this mascara ages ago & it is still is as good as the day I first got it
.However, it can be a little clumpy if u don't wipe some excess product off the wand.

Eyeshadow Brush: M.A.C 217 Blending Brush
I use this brush every time I apply eyeshadow,
It blends colours really well.
Honorable Mention
M.A.C 239 Shader Brush

Eyesshadow: M.A.C.'s  Sable
I have been wearing this shade a lot towards the end of the year. I forgot how much I had loved it. Its a very pretty shimmery brown shade.
I like to wear it all over the lid with a matte brown shade in the crease.

Eyeshadow Palette: M.U.A's palette in 'Undress Me'
This is my current favourite palette, the colours are a beautiful mix of matte, shimmery & glittery.
Very pigmented, I bought this for £4 in Superdrug, great value.

Hair:

Dry Shampoo: Batiste Blush
I have tried a fair few dry shampoos & I find this works best in my hair. Let me know what scent you prefer. I think I prefer the tropical scent.

Shampoo: Mane & Tail Herbal Essentials
I used this on the lead up to my sisters wedding, in the hopes my hair would grow a bit longer. I did see results, but I recommend using a moisturising conditioner as well as I felt this shampoo dried the ends of my hair a little.

Conditioner: Aussie Miracle Shine Conditioner
I don't have a picture to show you because I have just ran out of this stuff. Its a bit pricey but well work it. It reduced the dryness of the ends of my hair, & made my hair soft overall.

Heat Protectant: Charles Worthington
This smells really great & does its job as far as I can see. Its almost gone thought so I will have to pick up a new one. (don't smell it, it will burn you nose, you have been warned!)

Styling Product: Tony & Guys Sea Salt Spray
My hair is naturally wavy & can be a bit bushy & frizzy. This salt spray really helps with that, I also use this after I have curled my hair it helps really define the curls.

Utensil: Babyliss Curling Wand
I used this curler almost every time I go out with friends I love how the barrel is wide then goes narrow. This results in beautiful natural curls.

Body:

Shower Gel: Soap & Glory Clean On Me
This smells devine & luxurious, its almost gone through. I'm currently using Soap & Glory's Sugar Crush body wash & I am loving that too.

Perfume: Ted Baker Butterfly Wings Body spray
I discovered this scent a few months ago & it has been all I have been wearing (scent wise of course). Boots online told me it has elegant bergamot and red fruit, highlighted with tuberose and patchouli. So there ya go, if your into your bergamot then give this a smell. ( I have no idea what bergamot is ).

Body Butter: Soap & Glory Daily Smooth
I completely forgot I had this, I used this all through Summer I really like how thick it is.
It kept my skin really soft through Summer.

Body Scrub: Soap & Glory Flake Away
Smells great & makes my skin really soft.
(Don't leave it in your family shower, they will use it all, I promise).

Other:

Book: The Fault In Our Stars by John Green
Honourable Mention
The Perks Of Being a Wallflower By Stephen Chbosky

These books are both about fictional teenage characters.
You probably have heard of them already, so all I have to say it read them.
(or just watch the movies, either way ).

Song: Happily by One Direction
Honourable Mention
Happy by Marina & the Diamonds

Albums: Midnight Memories & FOUR by One Direction

Honorable mention:
X by Ed Sheeran & 5 Seconds of Summer by 5 Seconds of Summer

Snack: Super Chicken Noodles
I always get hungry in the evenings & these are so quick to cook.
(bit random really..)

Shoes: Dr. Martins
I have been saving up for months to buy my black Dr. Martins & have been wearing them to death since.

T.V. Show: Orange is The New Black
I'm not really one to follow T.V shows but I did enjoy watching the first season of  OITNB
Honourable Mention
RuPauls Drag Race

I hope you guys enjoyed this post I'm very happy with how it turned out.
For 2015 I'm going to be putting a lot of effort into my posts. I also have a few fun projects lined up.
I do hope you stick around.

Winter must-haves.

Winter must-haves.

Hey Guys,

Today I decided to kick off the first winter post of the year.
This post is going to be a must-haves.

Last year I showed you guy’s some of my must haves for the winter season, I had a lot of fun making that post so this year I thought I'd do an updated version.

1. Winter Boots
If you read my '2014 wish list' you will see a pair of Dr Martins which I had dreamed about getting for months. Well about three weeks ago I decided to splurge, & now I finally have them. I absolutely adore these boots. They are not only fashionable but very durable I will defiantly be wearing these on cold winter days.
  • I got the 1960 classic 8 tie boots in black in Schuh for €130, Schuh give 10% off to 3rd level students.
2. Oversized coats
If I have to go somewhere during a cold winter evening, you can 100% guarantee I’m wearing my big woolly coat.
·         I really love this coat from La Garconne, only problem, its 493.85.

3. Velvet
Whenever I see velvet I automatically think of winter. I think velvet will make a strong appearance in clothes shops this winter (and if it doesn’t I’m going to wear it anyway).I especially love velvet dresses, these two are my favourite’s picks.
·         The black one is from www.motelrocks.com .
·         The red velvet dress is from Bethany Moats collection at Aeropostal.

 4. The Pony Fishtail
Usually I like to have my hair out of my face when I am at school or working. But recently I have been styling my hair like this. It gives an ordinary ponytail a bit more detail & it’s a great way of working a plait without having to worry about shorter layers falling out.

5. Dark nail polishes
During winter I love wearing darker nail polish. My favourites are greys, reds and maroons.
·         The maroon one is from O.P.I called ‘in a Holidaze’
·         The Essie one has no name, but a grey colour I love from Essie is Chinchilly.

6. Tartan
I could go on and on and on about how much I love tartan, but I’ll keep it short. Tartan has always been one of my favourite patterns. But for this winter it has hit a whole new extreme.
·         This scarf (which I really want) is from Selfridges, but I’m pretty sure most shops will do tartan scarf’s this winter
·         These leggings are from New Look (which I really want also). These can be worn casual or glammed up on a night out.

7. Dark make-up
Just like nail polish I like to wear darker make-up in the winter, especially berry coloured lips. My all time favourite lipstick is Revlon’s Black Cherry, which is a dark maroon colour
·         This lipstick ( again I really want it) is from M.A.C in colour ‘Rebel’
·         This gold glitter eye shadow which is perfect for Christmas time is from Bare Minerals.
·         I adore the colour of this eye shadow, but I fear I might be too scared to try it. It’s from Trish McEvoy.

Let me know your winter must-haves in the comments below & also leave you any requests or suggestions!

Love always,

Nixie xx
