Spread a little joy this Christmas.

Hey guys,

So It’s that time of year again....frantically buying Christmas presents, decorating the house, fighting over the last turkey in the shops. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle & bustle of Christmas time. The holiday season is a time of spreading happiness & joy.

But sometimes we tend to forget others less fortunate than us. This year I strongly encourage you to help people who are less fortunate. You don’t need to spend your money if you don’t have it. There are many ways to help. Spread a little joy to someone else this Christmas. Not only will you be helping them but you will feel great after. I just think it’s important to help others especially during the holiday season.

Here are some ways you can help.

1. Give old usable clothes or toys to homeless shelters
Up to 100 million people are homeless throughout the world, the majority of them women and children.Homelessness is all around us & is a local issue no matter where you live. Focus Ireland estimates that there are up to 5,000 people at any one time who are homeless in Ireland.
This year a couple of friends & I are having a clothes collection for the local homeless. This could be a great idea you & your community could get involved in. Be Santa to the homeless this year.

2. Volunteer your time
Whether its in a food kitchen, youth club or homeless shelter. You time is a fantastic asset to have. An extra pair of hands is always appreciated. Look for opportunities in your local area, everyone has a skill to contribute.

3. Visit a nursing home
This is something I have done twice recently. A group of us visited a couple of nursing homes & sang Christmas carols. This is honestly one of the best things I have ever done. To see the elderly & sick smiling & clapping as we sang was truly amazing. It was a heart warming experience.

4. Donate money
If you have the money this year it was be a great idea to donate to a charity or cause of your choice. If you don’t have money you could always fundraise with friends. There are plenty of ways to do so.

5.Spread awareness
Talk about it, to friends, family anyone & everyone who will listen. Word of mouth is one of the best ways to spread awareness. If you have a blogged  about it. If you are passionate about any charity or illness let people know.

If you have done any of these things let me know in the comments below.
If you have blogged this topic I would love to read it.

Love always,

The Me Time Tag: Christmas Edition

Hey guys,

So I recently watched Essiebuttons’s video on where she created the ‘Me Time Tag’ I really enjoyed it & decided to do it myself.

 Here are the questions.
  • What do you watch or read during me-time? I always watch Youtube videos during me time or the ‘Late Late Show’ on a Friday evening.I don't usually read that often during me-time, but if I am it’s usually blogs or a John Green book. I also really enjoyed reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.
  • What do you wear during me-time? My big woolly robe and woolly socks or I will wrap up in a blanket, in my pj's.

  • What are your me-time beauty products? Usually if I am having me-time I will do a face mask, just to treat my skin. One I really love is Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Peel Off Face Mask.
  • Current favourite nail polish?  Essie Chinchilly I love this colour in Winter time it’s a subtle lilac/grey colour.
Essie Chinchilly. (It looks very grey in this picture)

  • What do you eat/drink during me-time? Usually tea, but hot chocolate during those winter evenings. Especially hot chocolate from a coffee shop (its always nicer when someone else makes it)

  • Current favourite candle? Yankee Apple & Pine needle or Season Of Peace which I got last year.

  • Do you ever have outdoor me-time?  Not really during the winter as camogie is finished, but if I do, I’ll go for a walk with my sister
  • Would you ever go see a movie alone? Probably not as the nearest cinema is quiet far away so I’d probably bring a friend along for company
  • Favourite online shop? I had to think about this, but then it hit me Boohoo.com 100% I order nearly all of my dresses from them!
  • Anything to add? What else do you do during me-time? I would usually cuddle up in a blanket on a Friday evening with a hot chocolate after I have had a shower.
opps.. I was editing this & realized I forgot to tag anyone. I'll like to tag Sinead from DreamingAgain to do this.
Let me know in the comments bellow what you like to do during me-time?

Love always,

Christmas Gift Guide - Budget to Blowout: For music lovers

Gift guide.

Hey Guys,
I'm currently lying on the couch sick, drinking a cappuccino. When in fact I should be doing some online Christmas shopping. But I always leave these things untill the last minute. (Mayor procrastinator!)

Today will be the second installment to the series.
This post is to help you shop for the music lovers in your life. Like last time these ideas will suit any budget.

1.Music on the go.
Black & gold Forever21 headphones 4.67 euro.
Urbanears 56 euro.
Dr.Dre Beats Pill 160 euro.

2.Sound Systems
Vinyl speaker system with built-in speakers 80 euro.
iPod touch160 euro
Vintage radio 198 euro.

3.Band Merch.
Unofficial merchant can be a lot cheaper than official merch. So defiantly shop around if you are on a budget.
1975 t-shirt 9.05 euro.
5 Seconds Of Summer Beanie 13 euro.

4.Music
Vinyls cans be an amazing & vintage gift. These records can be expensive thought. Some great alternatives are: CD's & vouchers.
Taylor swift's album 1985
iTunes voucher - can be purches from 15 -100+ euro.

5.Music lessons
Music lessons are a great gift if you know the persons wants to try an instrument or loves singing. If they already play an instrument you could always get them a song book. I have seen great song books that have sheet music to well known pop songs. This would make a great gift.

6.Concerts
One of the best present you could get a music lover is concert tickets. But they are often expensive & out of budget. As a cheap alternative why not get a concert DVD of their favourite band. More & more band are producing concert albums & dvd's.
One Directions Up all night concert DVD 13 euro.

I really hope this helped, I'm off to bed now.
Leave me a comment telling me what you would love to get for Christmas.

Love always,
Nixie

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award - Tag

Hey guys,
Yesterday I was nominated for the 'Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award ' by the lovely Sinead from DreamingAgain. Thank you Sinead for the nomination!

    Here are the rules:

Thank and link the blogger who nominated you.
Post the award logo onto your blog.
Answer the set of 10 questions that the blogger who nominated you has provided.
    Set 10 new questions.
Nominate 10 other bloggers to do the tag.

    Here are my answers:

    1.      What advice would you give to your younger self?
Oh gosh this is a hard one, I don’t think I regret anything because I believe everything happens for a reason. I’d probably say worry less, I think when I was younger I worried a lot about small things that didn’t matter. Also stop procrastinating.

    2.      What is your favourite thing to do when you have nothing to do?
    Blog or watch YouTube videos.

    3.      Why did you decide to start a blog?
I had seen other bloggers & Youtubers creating amazing content. I had always been creative, so I thought this was the perfect outlet to send out a positive message.

    4.      If you could live in any other country in the world where would it be?
This is really hard actually because I had always pictured myself living in Ireland. However, I would really like to live in London. So I’d probably say England.

    5.      Would you rather spend €/$/£100 all on make-up or clothes?
I would like to say make-up. But 100 euro is a lot of money to spend on make-up that will go out of date. So for that reason clothes.

    6.      If you could give one piece of advice to a large audience what would it be?
Wow, I left this question till last because it was the hardest. Believe in yourself.

    7.      Would you rather have to eat Chinese or Italian food for the rest of your life?
I’m actually getting a Chinese tonight with a couple of friends. But usually I’d prefer Italian, as id eat more on the menu.

    8.      If you could go on a date with one celebrity who would it be?
    Harry Styles, 100%.

    9.      What specific character trait do you want to be known for?
I want to be known as passionate, I think passion can be applied to so many things, so defiantly passionate.

    10. What is your biggest pet peeve?
I talk during movies, I try to hold it in but I’m sure I’m really annoying..sorry.

Here are my questions to you:

What is something you are passionate about? (except blogging)
What has been the best moment of 2014 for you?
What is your favourite thing about the place you live?
What piece of advice would you give to a younger sibling?
What is your favourite thing about blogging?
    Who are your favourite bloggers?
    Favourite season & why?
    Favourite book/magazine?
    Biggest inspiration?
Something that make you really happy?

    I nominate:

I also nominate anyone else who wishes to do the tag, leave me a link to your blog down bellow & I'll be sure to check it out!

Again Thanks to Sinead from DreamingAgain for tagging me & for the great questions.
She has a great blog that you should defiantly check out!

    Love always,

    Winter must-haves.

    Winter must-haves.

    Hey Guys,

Today I decided to kick off the first winter post of the year.
This post is going to be a must-haves.

Last year I showed you guy’s some of my must haves for the winter season, I had a lot of fun making that post so this year I thought I'd do an updated version.

    1. Winter Boots
If you read my '2014 wish list' you will see a pair of Dr Martins which I had dreamed about getting for months. Well about three weeks ago I decided to splurge, & now I finally have them. I absolutely adore these boots. They are not only fashionable but very durable I will defiantly be wearing these on cold winter days.
    • I got the 1960 classic 8 tie boots in black in Schuh for €130, Schuh give 10% off to 3rd level students.
    2. Oversized coats
If I have to go somewhere during a cold winter evening, you can 100% guarantee I’m wearing my big woolly coat.
    ·         I really love this coat from La Garconne, only problem, its 493.85.

    3. Velvet
Whenever I see velvet I automatically think of winter. I think velvet will make a strong appearance in clothes shops this winter (and if it doesn’t I’m going to wear it anyway).I especially love velvet dresses, these two are my favourite’s picks.
    ·         The black one is from www.motelrocks.com .
    ·         The red velvet dress is from Bethany Moats collection at Aeropostal.

     4. The Pony Fishtail
Usually I like to have my hair out of my face when I am at school or working. But recently I have been styling my hair like this. It gives an ordinary ponytail a bit more detail & it’s a great way of working a plait without having to worry about shorter layers falling out.

    5. Dark nail polishes
During winter I love wearing darker nail polish. My favourites are greys, reds and maroons.
    ·         The maroon one is from O.P.I called ‘in a Holidaze’
    ·         The Essie one has no name, but a grey colour I love from Essie is Chinchilly.

    6. Tartan
I could go on and on and on about how much I love tartan, but I’ll keep it short. Tartan has always been one of my favourite patterns. But for this winter it has hit a whole new extreme.
    ·         This scarf (which I really want) is from Selfridges, but I’m pretty sure most shops will do tartan scarf’s this winter
    ·         These leggings are from New Look (which I really want also). These can be worn casual or glammed up on a night out.

    7. Dark make-up
Just like nail polish I like to wear darker make-up in the winter, especially berry coloured lips. My all time favourite lipstick is Revlon’s Black Cherry, which is a dark maroon colour
    ·         This lipstick ( again I really want it) is from M.A.C in colour ‘Rebel’
    ·         This gold glitter eye shadow which is perfect for Christmas time is from Bare Minerals.
    ·         I adore the colour of this eye shadow, but I fear I might be too scared to try it. It’s from Trish McEvoy.

Let me know your winter must-haves in the comments below & also leave you any requests or suggestions!

    Love always,

    Nixie xx
